• HANVOVER BAND CONTEST Thank you for your support this past weekend at the Hanover Band Contest. We had a huge delegation of Titans in the stands to support your kids and each of you did a great job in doing just that!! A special thanks to pit crew--bus chaperones and everyone who lended a hand. As you are likely aware--the kids won first place in Class A--earned a rating of Excellent--and captured Best Music, Marching, Color Guard, Drum Line and Drum Major. Not a bad day for their first time out ever!! I have talked to the kids about how the thing I am the most proud of is the way they prepared for performance and the way that they performed. The awards--while nice--are truly secondary. If we weren't first--or even second ---but the performance was the same---I would still be equally proud of them for a job well done. It is--and always will be--about the performance. Great job to our kids!!!!
   
• EIGHT GRADE BAND NIGHT We had a great turnout of Future Titans at the game last Friday evening. On a very chilly evening--our kids performed their show twice and showed the future titans what being in our group is all about. The guests caused our band section to almost double in performers!! Indeed--our future here is bright and ready for some growth.
   
• FUND RAISING PROJECT All band members have been given (or will be by today's practice) a sales project that is going on in the band program. It is designed for outside of the building sales in that it targets adults rather than students. Your support and help in this project will help us to have more funds to spend on the students.
   
• STATE The State Festival is Saturday October 28 at Massaponax HS---south of Fredericksburg. Our show time is 10:00 a.m. The kids will need to report by 6:30 a.m. to Cosby to prepare to load the bus at 6:45 for a 7:00 a.m. departure. We will need a lot of of Titan supporters to make the trip up I-95 for the one hour-ish trip to see your kids perform. We will depart from Massaponax at 1:00 and will return to Cosby by 2:30 that afternoon. The State Festival is the most important event of our fall in that we will earn our state rating for the year at this event. We will be gearing up and working hard for it and I hope you will be present to see the final product.
   
• FALL FESTIVAL--FINAL FOOTBALL GAME Since a new school can't have homecoming--we will instead have Fall Festival--an exciting event that will be like homecoming without alumni!! The game, on Friday November 3, will be our final game of the season and will be a real treat to be a part of. A parade will proceed the game beginning at about 6:30 on the track inside the stadium. The kids will practice on Thursday November 2 from 2:15-3:15 in order to prepare for this event. Please note the new start and end time.
   
• HOLIDAY CONCERT Our Holiday Concert will be held on Thursday December 14. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. The students will have a call time of 6:15 most likely. We look forward to presenting a varied program of music for your enjoyment. The work for that is just now beginning. The students have been given a list of dates for their after-school rehearsals for that event. Have you seen them yet? Ask them about it--they should have written this in their Titan planners!! Thanks to all of you for all you do to support this band program!!
